This commercial electric sauna is located in the UP Health System Portage Express facility — I refer to it as “the clinic near Taco Bell”.

For a publicly available sauna it does quite well. The square body electric stove (much like my childhood sauna) is capable of delivering hot sauna to the 8 man capacity room.

Usually the biggest hangup in public saunas is that the steam thrower doesn’t want to ask if everyone wants steam, and also doesn’t want to steam someone out, resulting in a miserable luke warm standoff. If I’m charged with the ladle I also don’t ask if everyone wants steam, but they get it regardless.

I’ve observed some new-age sauna behavior — guys health-maxxing and timing their sauna sessions. I wonder if I derail their fitbit data when I throw steam.

Around the time I go which is 6-8pm, it’ll have 0-3 other guys in there. Does the job and is convenient to get a sauna and shower after a workout.
